On The Red Dot: At The Vets

While working with animals all day might sound like a dream, the truth is that being a vet is one of the most grueling jobs around. Long hours and demanding clients can take a toll on animal doctors. Globally, there is a higher incidence of depression and suicide among vets. At The Vets is an observational documentary that takes an intimate look at what vets do daily. It shows the long hours that many put in, and emotional toll that caring for our pets can take. We celebrate the moments of triumph when animals are nursed back to health, and we commiserate with the tragedy for those that are beyond help. Along the way, we will also tell the stories of the pets and owners who come through the doors of the clinics, and how our little animal companions make us all a little more human.

At The Vets returns for a second season! With pet ownership at an all-time high, On The Red Dot gains rare access to three vet practices to see how these animal doctors care for our furry companions. Atlas Veterinary Clinic and Surgery is the new kid on the block. Opened for barely seven months by Dr Chow Haoting, the new business owner and new father learns to cope with running a clinic and his family commitments. Dr Forest is one of the few mobile vets in Singapore. Running Happy Vet out of her van, she zooms all around Singapore, attending to sick animals in the comfort of their own homes. Stars Veterinary Clinic is one of the few clinics that provide emergency services. Working at a clinic that is equipped to handle urgent cases means that Dr Jean Heng days are often chock-a-block!
