Located in Chinatown, Keong Saik road is adjacent to Kreta Ayer road, it has only 62 shophouses. In the early 20th century, amongst the few women who sailed from China to Nanyang to make a living, some worked as domestic helpers, also more commonly known as “majie”; some worked in the construction site as the “samsui” women and some others were sold to become pipa girls...位于牛车水的恭锡街，整条街不长，只有62个店屋。二十世纪初期，自中国远渡重洋来到南洋谋生的少数女性中，有的替人帮佣做妈姐，有的到建筑工地当红头巾。。。

Club Street is located in Chinatown, Singapore. The street was named as there were many clubs situated on this street in the early days. Besides the clubs, there were also many clan associations and industry associations. Over time, only two clubs remain, Singapore Chinese Weekly Entertainment Club and Goh Loo Club...客纳街Club Street是俱乐部街的意思。以前客纳街两旁的店屋，有许多宗乡会馆、行业联谊会以及商贾俱乐部或“公馆”。 这条街上现存的两家百年俱乐部：新加坡中华为基利俱乐部和吾庐俱乐部，经过战火蹂躪，不但没有走入历史，反而屹立不倒。。。

Changi, far from downtown, had gone through both the glorious and darkest era. Originally a swamp, the area was developed into a military base serving the British artillery battalion in the Far East in the 1930s. However, the base was unable to withstand the Japanese invasion, thus leading to its eventual demise....

During World War II, the Japanese army constructed two runways in Changi. When the British returned after the war, they had made improvements to the runways. One of which is still being used by the Changi international Airport. The British were stationed in Changi for over 40 years, leaving behind many historic bungalows and buildings. The Old Changi Hospital is one of them but it has been vacant for 20 years....

Geylang’s development started as early as mid 19th century. By 1930, the area had already been divided into odd and even-numbered streets. Happy World once stood prominently at Geylang Road in the 1960s and 1970s. The centre was well known for its variety of activities and sport competitions, and till this day many pioneer folks still hold sweet memories of the place. Happy School at Geylang Lorong 14, was a very special place...

In the past, Geylang Lorong 1 and 3 in the vicinity of Kallang River used to be a swamp, and was inhabited by the Chinese and Orang Laut. They prospered within kampong communities and lived in stilt houses. As decades went by, the entire landscape transformed as kampong houses made way for private terrace houses and HDB flats...靠近加冷河的芽笼一巷和三巷，早期是一片沼泽地、浮脚屋，既有华人村落，也有海人聚居的马来甘榜。几十年间，陋屋变成私人排屋、组屋，地方全然改观。。。
