Wang Jiahao is a rebellious youth being raised singlehandedly by his mother, Xiufen, a widow. Many schools refuse him entry, so Xiufen resorts to working two jobs a day to enrol him in a private school.

Back home, Jiahao and Jiemin learn from Jieshan that Xiufen had fainted as a result of low blood sugar. Jiahao is indifferent and goes into his room since Xiufen has come round.

Xiufen undergoes surgery. Although she survives, she is in a coma. Jiemin and Jieshan try in vain to contact Xiaohui, who has gone filming overseas and forgotten her mobile phone.

A paper doll is delivered, as a curse against Jiahao’s uncle, Wei. Jieshan finds the paper doll pretty and keeps it at home as decoration.

Xiaohui finds out the “robber” is Wei, the gangster. Presuming it is his fault that Xiufen is in the hospital, she beats him up.

Jiahao bursts out laughing after seeing the video-clip of how Jiemin had pulled a prank on Mr Kong. Mr Kong is offended, and Jiemin is expelled. Lollipop instigates Jiahao to play truant. They are caught by Niu, who decides to form a rock-climbing team in

Jiahao and Otahman ruin Benson’s chances of taking advantage of Coco. Upset, Benson decides he hates Jiahao even more. Xiaohui tells Jieshan her dream is to make a movie. What she says reminds Wei of his dream to become a swimming champion.

Wei discovers his attacker is a deaf and mute foreigner. He asks Gao, who deduces that Wei must have offended someone. Benson challenges Jiahao to a basketball duel. The loser will have to jump into a rubbish truck. Jiahao loses, and keeps his word.

Haiying is upset Jiahao secretly look pictures of her. She throws his mobile phone into the water. Infuriated, he lashes out at her for ruining his phone. He is embarrassed when she has to save him after he falls into the water.

Haiying insists Jiahao accept the mobile phone and asserts that she has a message in it for him. In the message, she tells him to overcome his phobia instead of avoiding it. Jiahao finally receives his pay.

Haiying does not blame Jiahao for not rescuing her; she realises he cannot swim. Shocked by Benson’s despicable manner,

Wei manages to save Jiahao in the nick of time. He relates how he was expelled from the swim team after giving the coach a punch for looking down on him.

Chunfeng is unhappy Wei referred to Xiaohui as his wife. Back home, he and Wei warn each other not to harbour bad thoughts about Xiaohui. Chunfeng stays the night.

Wei deals with the gangsters who bullied Lollipop. Grateful, Jiahao begins to idolise him. Xiaohui sees Jiahao practicing Wei’s moves and decides to throw Wei out. Wei feigns illness to make Xiaohui change her mind.

Jiahao and his sisters are happy when the nurse tells them Xiufen has moved her fingers. Wei manages to steal Jiemin’s passport from Xiaohui. Jieshan is afraid Jiemin will reveal her secret, so she does not dare to tell Xiaohui.

Jiemin is taken to a motel after being drugged. Wei is about to head for the airport when he spots her being whisked away. He manages to find her at the motel and rescues her. Wei leaves for Japan after taking Jiemin home. She has no idea what happened.

The man, Zhang Jiaming, was a classmate of Xiufen’s in secondary school. Jiahao remembers that he had assumed Xiufen caused his father’s death because of Jiaming.

Thinking Albert is trying to get fresh with Xiaohui, Chunfeng hits him. The ruckus eventually leads Xiaohui to lose her movie funds. Meimei is surprised to see Wei, as she had assumed he was dead.

Xiaohui is being harassed by her creditors when another Albert turns up with a cheque of $200,000. This Albert is the man she had saved when she was filming in Malaysia. Albert wants to invest in her movie company and date her.

Jiahao manages to make it through the heats. Benson vows to defeat him. Jiahao knows Haiying is Big Cat. In turn, she realises it was he who jumped into the pool to save her, even though he could not swim.
