The hunt for Asia's next big idea is back on as Channel NewsAsia's Start-UP returns for a fifth season. This time, with a new host. Pocket Sun, a familiar face in the regional start-up scene, navigates viewers through twists and turns as our three VCs search for startup talent. For the first time, the VCs will travel across Asia to check out the region's startup scenes, and handpick a couple of startups to join the show's line-up. The remaining six finalists will be chosen at the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology. The startups will face 4 challenges -- if they survive 3 rounds of elimination -- to compete for seed funding of up to S$2,000,000.
Our 3 VCs - Kuan Hsu, Jeffrey Paine and Leslie Loh, explore the vibrant start-up scenes of Taipei, Jakarta and Yangon. Along the way, they meet with startup founders from different industries and invite two young potentials to compete on the show.

The VCs will mentor the startups through the timed challenge. The startups must hand in presentation slides showing the work they have completed before the 36 hours are up.
