More than 5 decades after its formation, ASEAN continue to be work in progress, as it jostles with the other regional blocs and global powers to shape the international discourse. How these issues are being tackled at the micro level – be it by individuals, whole villages or NGOs, remain a central focus throughout this series. The ground-up initiatives profiled in the series goes to show that despite the many challenges facing ASEAN, there are plenty to celebrate, united by the vision of an open, inclusive and peaceful Southeast Asia region.
